The Andhra Pradesh High Court today asked the CBI and Enforcement Directorate to conduct an investigation into the assets of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

A bench comprising justices Ghulam Mohammed and Nooti Ramamohan Rao gave these orders on a petition filed on October 17 by YSR Congress honorary President and Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijaya.

Vijaya, widow of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, filed the petition seeking a probe by the CBI and the ED against Naidu on various counts.

“Several individuals have conspired with Chandrababu Naidu to subvert the system by causing pecuniary advantage to themselves and draining the state’s exchequer. Offences of cheating, criminal breach of trust, corruption, money laundering and several others are made out against them,” Vijaya prayed in the petition.

“It is in the greatest public interest that Naidu and the other private respondents be investigated at the earliest by both the CBI and the ED, as the offences are of a national and international nature, and which have ramifications across the nation,” the petition said.

The court directed CBI, ED and SEBI to complete the investigation and submit reports independently within three months.

A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising acting Chief Justice Ghulam Mohammed and Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao on Monday directed the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and SEBI to conduct investigation into the allegations made against former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and submit a report within three months in a sealed cover.

The Bench was admitting a writ petition filed by Y.S. Vijayamma, wife of late Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy. She alleged that Mr. Naidu with the help of media group owner Ch. Ramoji Rao defrauded the State ex-chequer and their actions needed to be investigated.

The Bench said, “We are of the opinion that petitioner made out a case of misuse and/or abuse of power and also actions of indulgence by respondent No. 8 (Mr. Naidu) warranting admission of the writ petition”.

Ms. Vijayamma had alleged that the TDP president amassed wealth by misusing his power using Mr. Ramoji Rao as a conduit. The Bench directed the investigating agencies to submit reports within three months so that the Court could further consider the matter.
