Actor Ramcharan Tej and son of the megastar K. Chiranjeevi on Tuesday afternoon escaped getting seriously injured in a freak accident while shooting an action sequence in Goa. The scene involved a speeding train and a car trying to cross the tracks, for the Telugu film ‘Racha’, directed by debutant Sampath Nandi.

According to Mr. Ramcharan’s manager Praveen, the scene as envisaged by stunt director Allen Ameen of ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Force’ fame involved the locomotive and the automotive coming to a halt with inches to spare. But while the train stopped, the black Mercedes sports car driven by the star did not, because the safety tow rope snapped.

The expensive car banged into the side of the train and ‘Cherry’ as the actor’s nickname goes, was bumped around a bit and escaped with minor bruises. The damage to the car too, was not much because it was travelling at a speed of around 15 or 20 kilometres an hour. The director Mr. Sampath Nandi was not present during the shooting as it involved action sequences directed by Mr. Allen Ameen.

After an hour’s interruption the shot was completed and the unit packed up. The current schedule is expected to be completed by October 16.
