HYDERABAD: The state assembly is likely to witness bedlam again on Monday as the TDP and TRS members are likely to stall the proceedings demanding withdrawal of suspension of legislators.

The TDP Telangana forum held a brief emergency meeting on Friday immediately after suspension of two of its MLAs, condemned the decision and demanded immediate withdrawal of the suspension, and decided to meet on Monday to finalise the action plan. According to forum convener N Janardhan Reddy, the members would raise the issue in the House on Monday, and if there was no positive response from the government, the 36 MLAs from the T region would create a situation wherein the government would be forced to move a resolution suspending them from the House.

While TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu called the Thursday’s incidents as unfortunate, party deputy leader N Janardhan Reddy demanded that the governor be recalled. He alleged that police officials like DCP (Central Zone) Akhun Sabharwal was present in the hall where the governor was addressing the members of both Houses. He said this amounted to breach of privilege.

Nagam was of the opinion that the governor should not have continued with the speech. Recalling a previous incident, Nagam said when R Rangarajan was governor, some Congress members threw the speech copy which hit him on his chest. Following this, Rangarajan left the venue. But on Thursday the governor continued with his speech which further aggravated the situation.

The feeling in the region was that he was trying to suppress the T movement, the TDP leader said.

Suspended TDP member A Revanth Reddys said that it was violation of the rights of the members. He claimed that he did not throw the chair as was being alleged. It fell down in the jostling that took place in the hall, he said.

The TRS members will also make a similar demand and continue with their protest demanding that the government move a resolution in favour of bifurcation of the state. The TRS has 11 members in the House and three of them have been suspended.
